Bard Cinder & Smoke 13 Year Old is a premium, limited-edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon produced in Graham, Muhlenberg County. It is the crown jewel of the Cinder & Smoke series from The Bard Distillery, which was founded in 2019 by Thomas and Kim Bard. Thomas is the 4th-great-grandson of the brothers who founded Bardstown, the "Bourbon Capital of the World". This expression is hand-blended in extremely small batches from a limited collection of "well-seasoned" mature barrels.
Spirit Description
This 13-year-old bourbon is bottled at cask strength, ensuring the full essence and depth of the long aging process are preserved.
Maturation: The "Cinder & Smoke" profile is achieved by selecting barrels that exhibit a natural interplay between sweet char and deep oak.
Appearance: Deep chestnut with oily, slow-moving "legs" on the glass.
Nose: Delicate yet impressively deep; it opens with iconic bourbon notes of vanilla and butterscotch, layered with wet oak, leather, and hints of holiday spices.
Palate: It features a buttery, creamy mouthfeel and a "unique" flavour profile where mild cinder and smoke are noticeable but not overpowering. Dominant notes include rich treacle, dark fruit, and a beautiful floral, perfume-like quality.
Finish: Long, smooth, and sophisticated; the floral notes linger as spices soften into a salted caramel exit.
Technical Details: While batches vary, it is typically found around 97.8 to 99.3 proof (48.9%–49.65% ABV).
